An ongoing exploration into the formal expression of building performance—initiated as a thesis in 2023—through the design of a public market and co-working space in downtown Providence, Rhode Island. Sustainable strategies—daylighting, seasonally adaptive hybrid ventilation, and on-site energy generation—become a design language woven into the historic downtown’s urban fabric. Like a person, the market “dresses” for the season—pulling on a jacket and boots in winter, then shifting to shorts and a hat in summer.
